History

Opened in 1963, Muzium Negara is the principal museum of Malaysia.

Its design, by architect Ho Kok Hoe, is a blend of traditional Malay palatial architecture and modernism. The two large murals on its facade, created from Italian glass mosaic, depict the history and crafts of Malaysia. The museum serves as the custodian of the nation's rich history and diverse culture, with galleries covering everything from prehistory and the Malay kingdoms to the colonial era and the formation of modern Malaysia.
