KL Railway Station

Iconic Moorish-style transport hub

History

Another masterpiece by A.B. Hubback, this station was completed in 1910.

Its whimsical Indo-Saracenic architecture, featuring a fairytale-like collection of domes, minarets, and arches, made it an instant icon. For decades, it was the central hub of rail transport in Malaysia. While its primary role was superseded by KL Sentral in 2001, it remains a significant architectural landmark and a functioning station for KTM Komuter trains.

Travel Tips

  • Getting There: You can still arrive here via the KTM Komuter train.

  • Photography: It's a photographer's dream, especially during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset. Explore both the exterior and the platforms.

  • Across the Street: Don't miss the Malayan Railway Administration Building directly opposite, another stunning example of the same architectural style.
