History
Established in 1888, the Perdana Botanical Gardens is Kuala Lumpur’s oldest public park and a green sanctuary in the city center. Formerly known as Taman Tasik Perdana or Lake Gardens, it is located in the Heritage Park of Kuala Lumpur. Initially created as a recreational park with tropical plants, it has been transformed into a botanical garden.
Significance
It boasts verdant gardens, a lake, and numerous attractions, such as the Orchid Garden, Butterfly Park, and the National Monument. The garden offers not only botanical collections but also elements that create the atmosphere of a tropical rainforest, even though it is situated in the heart of a lively city.
