History
Constructed in 1989 and formerly referred to as the Memorial Library, the Kuala Lumpur City Library was initially located in the adjacent Old Government Printing Press office. It stands as the sole building in Dataran Merdeka erected post-independence.

The KL City Library is often considered one of the superior public libraries, featuring an auditorium, conference area, multipurpose hall, online library, and an electronic kiosk for book checkouts and returns.
