Kolam Biru River of Life

Kolam Biru River of Life

A mesmerising installation on Klang River that lights up blue at night

History

The Klang River, winding through a densely populated area, became increasingly polluted and prone to flooding due to rapid development. To address this, the River Of Life (ROL) project was launched in 2011. With a budget of RM 4.4 billion, it covers 781 hectares and 63 hectares of water bodies. The ROL aims to transform the river into a vibrant waterfront, enhancing economic and commercial value and reconnecting the city, river, and its people.

Significance

The highlight of the River of Life Project is the stunning Kolam Biru. Translated literally as Blue Pool, Kolam Biru is designed to visually enhance the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers, delivering a spectacular sensory experience. With elements like a Dancing Symphony Fountain, Blue Corridor, fog, and lighting effects, Kolam Biru highlights the historic Masjid Jamek and Sultan Abdul Samad Building, offering a revitalizing recreational area for both locals and visitors to enjoy.

Travel Tips

The Kolam Biru under the River of Life project is only a 7-minute walk away from the KL Tourism Bureau as it is the prominent water installation in front of Masjid Jamek.
